This is by far the finest wooden shipwreck I have ever seen. The ship was crushed by sea-ice and sank in 1915 forcing Shackleton and his men to make an astonishing escape on foot and in small boats.

The Endurance was built in Sandjeford Norway on the 17th December 1912 overseen by the experienced master shipbuilder Christian Jacobsen at the Framnaes shipyard.
